A planned total of six plants will process MSW on a daily basis.
The daily Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) intake is 7,200 tons, with approximately 3,000 tons comprising organic waste.
Advanced technologies push biogas upgrading to heights of up to 99% methane purity.
Directly converting biogas into electricity provides clean power for the region.
SusBDe embarks on its Senegal venture one step at a time, commencing with activities in the Sindia region. With 18 municipalities and a population exceeding 2.5 million, this area presents significant potential for enhancing waste management and recycling practices.
Mr. Jan de Wit is leading SusBDe's endeavors in Africa, culminating in the inaugural signing of a SusBDe project in Senegal. Over the past few years, Jan has dedicated significant efforts in Senegal, collaborating closely with Mr. Babacar Lam, CEO of Savoie Senegal. This collaboration led to the landmark signing, marking a significant milestone for Senegal. .
Following several intensive days in the Netherlands, involving visits to SusBDe and its partner organizations, stakeholders have forged an extensive agreement. This agreement serves as a cornerstone for the development of six plants in Senegal. With solid partnerships and a shared vision, we are committed to making this endeavor a success. It reflects a joint ambition and a unified vision for the future of green energy in Senegal.
In addition to alleviating pressure on nearby landfills, our processing plant will serve as a hub for clean energy production. Through anaerobic digestion, naturally occurring biogas will be harnessed to generate reliable electricity, which will then be distributed by SenElec to local municipalities.
Recycling Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) is pivotal in advancing the goals of Plan Sénégal Émergent (PSE). By implementing efficient waste management practices like recycling, Senegal can achieve environmental sustainability, create job opportunities, and foster a circular economy.
Aligned with the PSE's objectives of sustainable development and economic growth, recycling MSW reduces waste generation, conserves natural resources, and promotes innovation in waste management. Through initiatives promoting recycling and waste separation, Senegal can progress toward a cleaner environment, improved public health, and a more resilient economy in line with the vision of Plan Sénégal Émergent.
SusBDe proudly collaborates with esteemed experts like Jan de Wit to oversee the construction of Sindia's inaugural biogas plant. Through partnership with Savoie Senegal, we establish a direct avenue for energy and gas procurement with Senegal's municipalities. This innovative approach serves as a blueprint for future endeavors, uniting local teams with specialized expertise from professionals in Senegal and the Netherlands.
Commencing April 14th, 2024, Savoie Senegal and SusBDe join forces to confront Senegal's waste management issues and foster clean energy production for the region. Leveraging organic waste sourced from municipal collections by local partners, the initiative aims to effect positive change and cultivate renewable energy solutions.
